Baby Shower

I made this card for my girlfriend for her baby shower over 9 months ago. This is one of these cards that I made with some papers and cardstock that I bought before I became a Stampin Up demostrator. However I did use my Stampin Up Scallop punch, which is one of my favorites.

I was at my girlfriend's house a few months ago and managed to get a photo of it.

For my sis

For sister's birthday, I wanted to make a card for her with a handbag theme, however what I ended up making is better that I had dreamt. I made a bag in the shape of a hand bag and a mini card to go with with the left over papers I had from the bag. I had seen the bag in a number of places but I ended up making it with the assistance of Leanne Dixon (my SU up line and friend) and a number of blogs where I found photos of it including Makeesha Byl (need to scroll a bit to get to the handbag photo) . With their assistance I managed to get it done. So here is the end result .......

What I did:
For the Handbag:

  1. I got the instructions on how to construct the bag from Leanne.

  2. I used SU Pink Pirouette card stock for the bag. I cut a piece of pink card stock for the handle from the SU Simple Scrappin' Petal Party Exclusive Scrapbooking Kit.

  3. Once done I decided to use similar dimensions of the bag and cut 2 pieces to cover the front and bag of the bag from the SU Raspberry Tart Design Paper (DP) pack.

  4. For the buckles I used a 1 1/4" circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch and the Scallop circle punch of various card stocks and DPs from the packs above.

  5. Once assembled, I punched a small hole through all of them and used a Clear Crystal Studs (from mixit) to hold it together.

  6. I used the same studs for the handles.

For the Card:

  1. The card is small because I didn't want it to overshadow the bag, so I used some left over SU Pink Pirouette card stock.

  2. The card dimensions are 2" by 6 1/4" (fold in half). I used the the left over Raspberry Tart DP that I cut from the front panels for the card embellishment.

  3. I stamped the Happy Birthday message at the front.

  4. Use a left over pink ribbon and tied it up to finish it off.

And voila!

Birthday Card - Girl Origami Dress

Some months ago I made a birthday card for my niece with an origami dress at the front. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it. It was so cute, that I decided to make a similar card for my friend's daughter birthday. I have a few origami dresses designs but I used the one that looks more like a girls dress.

What I did:

  1. I cut a piece of paper into a 6" square.

  2. Following the instructions in an origami site I made the dress.

  3. I cut the A4 size SU! Pink card stock in half for the card for a standard card size.

  4. Then using my Fiskars border scallop punch I punch the right hand side.

  5. Then I cut a 1" piece of purple card stock and stand this underneath the scallope.

  6. Using a left over piece of purple I punch the large oval punch to mat the oval above, and paste it on the side.

  7. I used white ribbon around the card next to the scallop starting and finishing on the front so the inside of the card is neat.

  8. Once the ribbon is in place, I stack 4 pink half pink pearls on the top sections of the ribbon.

  9. Then using double sided tape I placed the dress in the card.

  10. Then using a whilte gel pen put some white faux stitches on the exposed purple card.

  11. Finally I used a pink sitcker that said Happy Birthday below the dress.

As soon as I have done the other one I may add a link here to it.

Halloween Card - Mummy

Just like the Frankenstein Card, this one was inspired from Angie Kennedy Juda as well. I really enjoyed making this card. From one piece of A4 you get 2 complete cards. I think I may need to make some more because these are much easier to make and I think I may make more of these to give away on Halloween!

What I did:
  1. From an A4 card of SU! Sahara Sands, I cut two strips of 4" and then cut this in half, making 4 cards from this one piece.

  2. I used one of the cards and cut it in half, and then used one of these halves and torn strips sidewards.

  3. I scrunch each strip and using a sponge, I sponged each strip edge with Chocolate ink.
  4. Using a 1/2" circle punch, I punched 2 white circles and using a 1/4" circle punch, punched 2 black circles for the eyes

  5. Using a 1/2" punch, punched a cream circle and cut it in half for the nose.

  6. Using one of the strips with a straight edge I started gluing each strip one of top of each other, until the front is completely covered.

  7. To complete the card, I glued the nose in place; and the eyes I partially put it within strips and glued it in place.

And Voila!

Halloween Card - Frankenstein

I have been following Angie Kennedy Juda blog for some months now and she has created a number of Halloween cards that I have been wanting to copy for a while. In patitcular 3 that she created to look like Frankenstein, Dracula and a Mummy. So today, inspired by Frankenstein Box, I created a mini Frankenstein card.

What I did:
  1. I used Old Olive SU card stock and cut it into 3 strips of 4" each and then each strip I cut in half, creating a card 4" x 6" (folded in half).

  2. Using black card stock I cut a strip of 2 1/2" and then used my Martha Stewart punch to imitate his hair. I cut a 3" piece and attached it to the top of the card.
  3. For the eyes, I cut 2 x circles using the 1/2" circle punch on white card stock and 2 x circles using the 1/4" circle punch on black cardstock. Stack the black circles towards the bottom of the white circles.

  4. For the eyelid I used a 1" circle punch on SU Old Olive card stock and cut the circle in half. These were too big so I cut about 1/8" from the curve area and attached these the eyes above. Ideally I should have used a 3/8" cirle punch but I don't have it (yet!!!)

  5. For the nose, I used a SU Green cardstock and 1/2" circle punch and cut the piece in half.

  6. As the final touch, I used a black marker and created its mouth in the shape of a "W" as well as some scar marks on its face.

I'm very pleased with the result and even more importantly, very pleased with finally taking the plung this weekend and using some of the supplies I have to re-create some of the cards and items that I have admire on so many blogs for some months. YEAH!!!!!

The next one I want to do is the Mummy one. So watch out.
