A collegue at work is getting married and my work collegues asked me if I would make a card to give to him on behalf of the team. I was so thrilled that I agreed immediately. It was rather challenging as normally make a card and I use it, but this time I wanted to make sure that the team were happy with the choise too, so I made 3 instead. Tuesday, March 2, 2010

For my sis

What I did:
For the Handbag:
- I got the instructions on how to construct the bag from Leanne.
- I used SU Pink Pirouette card stock for the bag. I cut a piece of pink card stock for the handle from the SU Simple Scrappin' Petal Party Exclusive Scrapbooking Kit.
- Once done I decided to use similar dimensions of the bag and cut 2 pieces to cover the front and bag of the bag from the SU Raspberry Tart Design Paper (DP) pack.
- For the buckles I used a 1 1/4" circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch and the Scallop circle punch of various card stocks and DPs from the packs above.
- Once assembled, I punched a small hole through all of them and used a Clear Crystal Studs (from mixit) to hold it together.
- I used the same studs for the handles.
For the Card:
- The card is small because I didn't want it to overshadow the bag, so I used some left over SU Pink Pirouette card stock.
- The card dimensions are 2" by 6 1/4" (fold in half). I used the the left over Raspberry Tart DP that I cut from the front panels for the card embellishment.
- I stamped the Happy Birthday message at the front.
- Use a left over pink ribbon and tied it up to finish it off.
And voila!

Birthday Card - Girl Origami Dress
Some months ago I made a birthday card for my niece with an origami dress at the front. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it. It was so cute, that I decided to make a similar card for my friend's daughter birthday. I have a few origami dresses designs but I used the one that looks more like a girls dress. What I did:
- I cut a piece of paper into a 6" square.
- Following the instructions in an origami site I made the dress.
- I cut the A4 size SU! Pink card stock in half for the card for a standard card size.
- Then using my Fiskars border scallop punch I punch the right hand side.
- Then I cut a 1" piece of purple card stock and stand this underneath the scallope.
- Using a left over piece of purple I punch the large oval punch to mat the oval above, and paste it on the side.
- I used white ribbon around the card next to the scallop starting and finishing on the front so the inside of the card is neat.
- Once the ribbon is in place, I stack 4 pink half pink pearls on the top sections of the ribbon.
- Then using double sided tape I placed the dress in the card.
- Then using a whilte gel pen put some white faux stitches on the exposed purple card.
- Finally I used a pink sitcker that said Happy Birthday below the dress.
As soon as I have done the other one I may add a link here to it.

Happy Birthday to you
- I use a white card for the base. In my scraps box I had some pieces left of card stock and SU! designer paper that I had used in previous cards. So I used a piece of blue card stock and put in on the left had size.
- I used a piece of green card stock cut it to fit within the card, used my swirly background stamp with brown ink. Then, I used the ink pad around the edge to give it more dimension.
- Punched 3 x 1 1/4" circles and 3 x 1 3/8" circles of a piece designer paper that matched the green on the card stock and the reverse had the brown strips that matched the ink pad I used earlier. 2 of the small circles I used the green side and stack that on the brown side of the large circle. Then on the other set I did the reverse. Then I stuck all 3 in a row on top of the green card stock.
- On top of the green card, I put a brown ribbon and tied it up on the edge as that section looked a little plain.
- I used the word tag and punch it on white card stock, wrote the Happy Birthday message on it and use the brown ink pad around it for dimension. Unfortunately my finger got on the way and I left a finger print. My husband thought it looked good, so I duplicated the mistake and I "fixed" the rest of the tag to have the same effect. A very lucky mistake as the end result looked good.

For You Cards

What I did: I used a pre-made white card that I trimmed a little. Then I chose 4 of the Stampin Up papers and cut squares of 1 1/2" each. The I glued them in mosaic format. I put a black ribbon though them joining in at the front (i put tape at the front to hold it in place). I used my large oval punch on one the Stampin Up papers again. They I use my new scallop oval punch on black card stock. Used my white gel pen and wrote the message with faux stitching and because I couldn't read it very well, I used a black marker and put dots on top.
The end result! Another card that I'm proud off.

PS. This is the first time that I have used the Stampin Up papers to create something on my own and i have to say that I LOVE THEM. And the response of the recipients was great too. Love it when people appreciate what I do with my cards. It gives me a great feeling.

Stamping Class - August 09
What I did: used one of the circle designs and stamp it 3 times on white stock, punched them out. Then used a large background stamp with the same ink pad that I used to stamp the circles; placed the circles on it and stamped the back of the circles. Then cut half way up on all 3 and inter twinned them, to cause that 3D effect. Used stick strip to attached the 3rd circle to the embellishment. Then stuck it to a white piece of card stock, which i then matted in green. Cut a piece of designer paper and matted than. Stack it to the side and put a ribbon matching the green around it. Then stick the 3D embellishment. Stamp the message on white stick, cut it with the large oval punch. Then using the scallop oval punch a piece on the same green used, and stick this on the bottom corner of the 3D embellishment. Then addition, did the same embellishment again, but this time I used Stampin-Up 2-way glue and added glitter to it. It looked fantastic, as you can see by the picture.

Farewell
Two of my kids teachers were leaving this week. And of course I decided that I wanted to make a card for them. I had planned to make the same card for them, but due to a couple of mistakes I ended up with 2 similar cards. No, it is not a mistake both teachers have the same name.
So what I did: I wanted to stamp the message on the card, but mistake number one, I touched the message on one of the cards and I ended up with part of the messaage in my hand, so instead of combining both, I put the flower embelishment on top of the error. The embelishment starts with stamping and embossing it, then used my new watercolour pencils and water brush for the water colour effect. Then I matted the card with some a beautiful paper that matches the colours of the flowers. Then I cut another piece that I used my punch and attached at the bottom of the card. Then I used ribbon across this where I used the mini oval tag with their names to cover where I joined the ribbon ends.
